I wasn’t planning to publish this etude at all, because it was an experiment that I honestly didn’t believe would turn into anything worthwhile until the very end. But the result came out even better than I expected. Not perfect, of course, but for a study that took me a little over an hour, I think it turned out very well.
I’ve noticed that small etudes often work out better for me than large paintings, probably because I’m less afraid of making mistakes.
